Odisha Channel Bureau Kendrapara, Aug 12: Security has been stepped at Kendrapara district headquarters hospital even as an inpatient’s death triggered mob violence today afternoon.As the news of death of a 32-year-old pregnant woman due to medical negligence spread, the mob comprising the locals beat up the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Binayak Prusty and ransacked his office chamber.A doctor of obstetrics & gynaecology (O&G) wing was also beaten up.Police later rescued both of them. A local Urban Body councillor Hizbur Rehman alleged that Kudratun Nisha spouse of a daily wage earned admitted at the obstetrics & gynaecology (O&G) ward of the hospital died as doctors on duty considerably delayed in attending to her.She gave birth to a stillborn child.Later, she profusely bled.The doctors left her unattended resulting in her tragic death.Kendrapara Superintendent of Police Nitinjeet Singh said police forces have rushed to the spot and situation has been brought under control.The incident is being investigated before initiation of legal action.CDMO Binayak Prusty said “I have been told by subordinates that patient was brought to hospital critical condition.“An inquiry is being conducted to ascertain veracity in the allegations that medical negligence resulted in woman’s death,” he said.
