Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 1: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking allocation of Rs.2000 crore for 2014-15 for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the State.Patnaik said that Government of India has indicated a figure a Rs.1010 crore as tentative allocation of funds under PMGSY for Odisha of which Rs.300 crore only has been released to the State so far during the current financial year 2014-15.A sum of Rs.1615 crore was spent in Odisha under PMGSY during 2013-14, he added.“We have ongoing works of around Rs.3200 crore and another Rs.1500 crore of works are in the tender process.“Therefore, the allocation of Rs.1010 crore made during this current financial year 2014-15 will not be sufficient and needs to be enhanced to at least Rs.2000 crore,” Patnaik wrote in his letter addressed to Modi.“We have already spent Rs.300 crore released this year,” the Chief Minister said.
