ravi_kumarOdisha Channel Bureau Berhampur, July 27: Odisha born weightlifter Katulu Ravi Kumar has done Odisha proud again, by winning silver medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.While another Indian weightlifter Satish Sivalingam scripted history in his debut Commonwealth Games, breaking the Games record en route to a gold medal, compatriot Ravi Kumar took the silver in the men’s 77kg event.There were celebrations at his home in this southern Odisha town as Ravi Kumar won the silver medal.His mother expressed hope that Ravi Kumar will perform better in many other games in the future.Ravi Kumar, born on April 24, 1988) had won a gold medal in the Men’s 69 kg (152 lb) weightlifting category in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.Ravi Kumar, who hails from Berhampur, started weightlifting at the Veer Hanuman Club in the city.Originally a bodybuilder, he took up weightlifting just three years before the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
