Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: A Maoist leader and his wife surrendered before police at Kalimela police station in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Tuesday, according to the police.Bhima alias Rusi Sodhi of Kurub village under Kalimela police station surrendered along with his wife Nangi Kunjami, according to J.K.Jethwa, Inspector General of Police (South-West Range).Bhima had joined the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in 2009 in Kalimela and had become an armed cadre.He was promoted to the rank of area committee member in 2011.Currently Bhima was area committee member of Padia Local Organisational Squad under Malkangiri Division of CPI (Maoist). His role is suspected in Maoist violence in Padia and Kalimela area since 2009.Bhima was carrying a reward of Rs.4 lakh announced by Odisha Government, police said.The Maoist leader’s wife, who hailed from Silakota village under Padia police station area, had joined the CPI (Maoist) organisation in 2012 and was a party member, Jana Natya Mandali, Padia Dalam, police said.
