Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Odisha Government on Thursday announced to implement the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Scheme (CMEGS) to create employment and employment opportunities by enhancing the skills of young men and women.This decision to implement the new scheme was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here during the day.Under the CMEGS, employment opportunities will be created for over two lakh youths every year, the government announced.Emphasising the need for skill development of the youths in the rural areas of the State at the meeting, Patnaik said that skill development training will be provided to at least 150 youths in every gram panchayat.In five years, more than 9.35 lakh rural youths and 1.7 lakh urban youths will be provided skill development training in five years, he added.Department of Employment & Technical Education & Training of the State Government will be the nodal agency for implementation of the CMEGS.The District Rural Development Agency will oversee the implementation of the CMEGS at the block level and facilitate skill development in both rural and urban areas, according to the government.Placement-based training, support of bank and other facilities will be included in the scheme.The Chief Minister will review the implementation of the scheme once in every two months, while the Chief Secretary will review the progress once in a month, the government added.
