Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Jindal Steel & Power Limited, Barbil unit has been conferred with the prestigious Global Environment Platinum Award 2014 for its outstanding contribution in pollution reduction and environment management.The award presented by the Energy and Environment Foundation on August 23, 2014 during the 5th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress: International Renewable Energy Conference & Expo’ held at New Delhi.The Conference was organised by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Ministry of Earth Science and Energy & Environment Foundation, New Delhi.“This Award is recognition of JSPL’s commitment and action for pollution free and environment friendly operation.This will further reinforce our green initiatives,” said T.S.Shanbhogue, EVP & Unit Head (JSPL, Barbil).S.B.Majumdar, Vice President, JSPL, Barbil; I.N.Rao, Vice President-Environment, JSPL, New Delhi; and R.C.Rout (General Manager, Environment Management Division-Barbil) received the award in presence of Gustav Grob, president, International Sustainable Energy Organisation, Switzerland; Anil Razdan (Chairman, Energy & Environment Foundation and Former Secretary, Power, Govt Of India; Deepak Gupta, former Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt Of India; A.N.Saksena, president EE Foundation; and Anil K Garg, president, World Renewable Energy Technology Congress.The company has employed latest technology for effective environment management and pollution control.Recently, for its environment management initiatives the Barbil unit of the company had bagged the Green Manufacturing Excellence Awards (GMEA): Green Achievers-2014 from global growth consulting firm Frost and Sullivan at Mumbai.
