Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: A total of 35 government girls’ schools have been identified with the help of Department of School and Mass Education in Odisha where the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will construct toilets under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.The project cost has been estimated at Rs.87.5 lakh.The AAI personnel will soon visit these schools to ascertain the requirements following which tenders will be called for.The construction works will begin in January and will be completed by March next.The AAI will maintain these toilets for two years.The AAI initiative followed the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his maiden Independence Day address to ensure that all government schools had separate toilets for girls within a year.The spending should be from MP Local Area Development Funds, budget of the State governments, and the CSR activities of the corporate sector.AAI has allocated Rs.20 crore for this nationwide project.
