OdishaChannel Bureau Kendrapara, Oct 11: A nine-year-old girl died and a minor boy is feared drowned as a mechanized boat engaged in evacuating people from seaside Satabhaya gram panchayat in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, capsized in Baunsagadi rivulet on Saturday.The evacuation exercise was being carried out by government agencies in view of the possible strike cyclone Hudhud in vulnerable seaside villages of the sea-erosion-hit gram panchayat.The deceased has been identified as Puja Mallick, while 11-year-old Hemant Mallick is missing.The residents of Magarakanda villages were being evacuated when the mishap occurred at around 11 AM, said Kendrapara Collector Pramod Kumar Das.The ill-fated boat was carrying 25 persons mostly women and children, Das added.
