Odisha Channel Bureau Kendrapara, June 24: A 40-year-old man who brutally attacked a tribal college girl and chopped off her fingers in broad day light last year in Kendrapara township area was convicted by a local court on Tuesday.The convict Sanatan Bhoi had developed infatuation towards the tribal girl and had launched the murderous attack on the victim on July 24 last year at Bada Mangala junction of the township.Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge B.K.Mohanty pronounced the verdict on the basis of circumstantial evidence and deposition of witnesses.The court also slapped Rs.31,000 penalty on the convict.The court held the accused guilty and convicted him under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of Indian Penal Code.As the victim had rejected the romantic advances, the jilted lover had committed the crime in a fit of rage.
