Bhubaneswar: Odisha Rural Development and Labour Susanta Singh has tested positive for coronavirus.
Singh, who represents Bhatli Assembly constituency in Bargarh district, is the first Minister in Odisha to have been infected with the novel coronavirus.
“I have tested positive for Corona and I am stable now. Those who have come in contact with me recently are requested to stay isolated and get tested,” Singh tweeted.
Singh had attended the Independence Day celebrations in Balasore district as chief guest on Sunday.
Earlier, five legislators of the State had tested positive for novel coronavirus. They are Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Srikanta Sahu, Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida, Sukanta Kumar Nayak and Prasant Behera.
Bargarh Member of Parliament Suresh Pujari has also tested positive for the virus and is in home quarantine.
