Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s capital city, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday recorded yet another single day steep spike of novel coronavirus infections with 342 positive cases with the city’s caseload inching towards 17,000-mark to reach at 16,933, said Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.
Apart from the steep spike of infection, the detection of 71% cases from local contacts was the disturbing feature of the day. Of the fresh infections, 244 were local contact infections while the remaining 98 cases were sourced from quarantine centres.
In the current month, as many as 6,561 infections have been detected in the past fortnight at a daily average of 437 positive cases. There has been an exponential spike of 39% infections in the current month.
Of the total tally of positive cases, 4,568 are active cases while 12,288 have recovered from the contagion till date.
As many as 64 patients from the city have succumbed to infections with the city’s fatality rate standing lowly at 0.37%. Bhubaneswar has reported a recovery rate of 72.56% with 387 patients getting cured of the disease on Tuesday.
