Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NOCCi) in association with `Team Odisha’, Government of Odisha will organise PLAST FUTURE EAST-2014, an international exhibition-cum-conference on plastics and polymers from November 7 to 9 this year.The event will be held at the newly created modern world class exhibition and convention venue named Balasore International Expo Centre in the NOCCi business Park, Bampada, Balasore.Balasore International Expo Centre BIEX is a new infrastructure built with world class facility for holding trade fairs, exhibitions, and conventions, at Balasore (Chandipur on sea) the humming coastal town of northern Odisha, almost in the centre of three State Capitals Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Ranchi, and many other economic hubs, such as Jamshedpur, Kharagpur etc.The BIEX has a 40,000 sq ft air-conditioned exhibition hall, with all facility to accommodate 150 octa-norm stalls of 9 sq meter area each.In addition, ample open area to park vehicles, and arrange open air exhibition is also available. The BIEX facility is in a 10 acre campus of the NOCCi Business Park, having star rated accommodation, recreation, cottage industry exposition and open air theatre, modern office facility, close to NH-5.Exhibitors and visitors can get all amenities, F&B services, banking, freight forwarding, courier, and travel services all under one roof in the Business Park.The plastics industry in eastern India is growing at the rate of 9 per cent per annum as against 14 per cent of India.The per capita consumption of plastics in the eastern region consisting of states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Assam and the north-eastern states, is 2.8 kg versus national average of per capita consumption of 8 kg.This shows the tremendous growth potential in eastern region as per study by the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA).The region will also have strategic advantages in the near future as both upstream and downstream is coming up in the region coupled with lower labor cost and investor-friendly approach by most state governments of the region.The Assam Gas Cracker Project and Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited, along with the proposed petrochemical complex of the IOCL in Paradip in Odisha, would prove to be the potential game-changers and in shifting the focus of plastic industry to eastern States of India and become the hub for future growth.The international exhibition-cum-conference on plastics and polymers aims to create a platform for corporate, policymakers, business partners and technology providers to come together and discuss the key issues and challenges pertaining to the polymer sector in the country.The event will also showcase Odisha, especially Balasore and Paradip Plastic Parks for investment before the global community.
