Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Mar 2: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged the Centre to establish two new Passport Seva Kendras at Sambalpur and Berhampur for the benefit of the people of those regions in obtaining passport services.“Presently one Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in the State Capital at Bhubaneswar is serving 30 geographically dispersed districts.As a result, immense difficulties are being experienced by the citizens of western and southern districts of the State for obtaining passport,” said Patnaik in a letter to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.Stating that there has been substantial increase in the demand for passport services, Patnaik pointed out that about one lakh passports have been issued by the PSK at Bhubaneswar during the year 2014.Patnaik said he had written a letter in this regard to the Centre in July 2012, but response is still awaited.
