Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: Odisha Government on Tuesday asked the three-member task force to submit within four months its report on allotment of government plots and houses under discretionary quota since 1995.State Government had formed the committee headed by Revenue Secretary Taradutt after opposition demanded a though inquiry into allotments made in favour of politicians and other prominent persons in violation of various rules.The Task Force will probe into all allotments made under discretionary quota from Jan 1, 1995 to July 31, 2014, official sources said on Tuesday.The panel will probe all allotment of land, flats and houses in the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack urban areas under the discretionary quota made by Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Cuttack Development Authority, Odisha State Housing Board and the General Administration Department, sources added.Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo told journalists that the government will take necessary action on the basis of the fact-finding report of the committee.The issue of such allotments had led to major controversy after it was revealed that senior Biju Janata Dal Rajya Sabha Member Kalpataru Das and his family members had availed several plots and flats under discretionary quota.Legislator son of Das and BJD legislator Pranab Balabantaray had surrendered two houses in the wake of the controversy.
