Activists stage dharna demanding CBI probe into mining scam

Odisha Channel Bureau New Delhi, Dec 16: Hundreds of Odia people led by many social activists from the State staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar here today demanding CBI inquiry into mining scam in Odisha.With banners in their hands, they demanded that the Narendra Modi Government should order a CBI inquiry into the mining scam in Odisha in view of the findings of Justice M.B.Shah Commission.A delegation led by Bijay Parida of the Odisha Jana Adhikar Parishad also submitted memorandum to the Prime Minister in this regard.The Centre had appointed the Shah Commission to probe into the large scale illegal mining in Odisha following allegation of irregularities and illegalities in mining operation in the State and a series of public protests and mass dharnas by various organisations.In August this year, a four-member team of Odisha Jana Adhikar Parishad had submitted also memorandum to Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Steel and Mines, Labour and Employment demanding CBI inquiry into the mining scam in Odisha.
