Two held for extorting money from girl

Rajashree DashJajpur (Odisha), July 3: Police on Thursday arrested two persons who were allegedly extorting money from a local girl after recording videos of her sexual encounters with one of the gang members.The arrested have been identified as Khitish Chandra Mohanty alias Lulu and Abinash Rout alias Kalia, according to the police.Interestingly, police arrested those two persons who were not named in the original FIR by the victim’s family.The main accused, identified as Bubuna Rout of Naupal village who allegedly did all the things is yet to be arrested even two weeks after registration of the case him and his accomplices with Dharmasala police.In her FIR filed with Dharmasala police on 20 June, mother of the victim had named three persons including main accused Bubuna and two others, namely – Bapuna Mohanty and Khitish Chandra Mohanty alias Lulu.While main accused was named for having sex with her daughter on the false promise of marriage and recording a video during the act and blackmailing her, two others were named for allegedly blackmailing the victim and her family to release videos of the sexual encounters to the media if they were not offered Rs.1 lakh.But police registered a case against Bubuna, Bapuna Mohanty, Madhusudan Rout and brother of the main accused.“We have arrested two persons in connection with the sensational sex video blackmailing case and are on the job to arrest four others including the main accused,” said J.K.Das, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jajpur Road.When asked as to why the two were arrested although they were not accused in the case, the SDPO said they came to police net during investigation.The arrested two were the close aide of the main accused and they were blackmailing the victim and her family with the sex video, he said.The arrested duo was forwarded to the local court today and later remanded to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected, police said.It may be noted that Bubuna was having one-sided love with a 20-year-old girl of his locality and he was insisting her to marry.The accused was threatening her that he would kidnap her if she refused to marry him.When the girl’s family informed about it to the father of the accused, the latter assured that he would arrange marriage between them.In pretext of marriage, Bubuna took the girl for outing.He made physical relationship with her and during her intimacy he made video recording of all the activities without her knowledge.Later, the accused threatened the girl’s family members to release the video footage of the girl in the internet if he was not offered money.Finally, the victim’s mother rushed to local police station on June 6.Police did nothing for the last two weeks.Then the mother of the victim brought these things to the notice of the District Superintendent of Police on June 20.The Dharmasala police had registered after being directed by the SP.
