Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to be in the grip of an unrelenting cold wave with no large change during the past several days. Minimum temperature below 10 degrees Celsius was recorded at as many as 15 places in the State on Monday.
Cold wave condition prevailing in the State is likely to continue over some places and weather remaining dry. There was no significant change till January 15.
The places that experienced below 10 degree Celsius on Monday are Balasore 9.5, Angul 8.5, Baripada 8.5, Jharsuguda 7.7, Keonjhargarh 7.9, Sambalpur 9.1, Sundargarh 6.0, Hirakud 8.6, Bhawanipatna 9.0, Balangir 9.0, Koraput 9.5, Sonepur 9.5, and Dhenkanal 9.5.
The lowest minimum temperature of 04.0 0C each was recorded at Phulbani and Daringibadi in Kandhamal district of the State.
On the other hand, Cuttack and Talcher recorded lowest minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius each, while Bhubaneswar recorded 11.5.
The biting cold wave condition is likely to continue in the State at least till January 15, according to the Meteorological Centre at Bhubaneswar.
The highest maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri.
The cold wave has badly affected poor people in rural areas of the interior districts.
