naveen-patnaikOdisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 10: Except for the promise for an Indian Institute of Management, there is nothing for Odisha in this budget, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reavtion to the union budget for 2014-15 on Thursday.“Except for the prominse for an IIM, there is nothing for Odisha in this budget.As usual the textile mega-cluster has bypassed Odisha in this buget,” Patnaik said in his response to the union budget.“Under the prevailing circumstances with high inflation coupled with drouhgt like screnario greater focus should have been given to agriculture, irrigation and social sector.However, the union budget lacks focus in all these crucial sectors,” the Chief Minister said.“Fiscal consolidation without revenue gain through introduction of GST is a misnomer.The concern of the States for adequate compensation fot loss in Central Sales Tax has not been tackled,” he remarked.Patnaik further said that nominal increase in allocation for flagship schemes will hurt development process in the States.The Chief Minister further observed that “meagre allocation on ambitious programmes like rural electrification speaks of tokenism”.Patnaik had not spoken anything critical about the railway budget.
