Odisha Channel Bureau Angul, Oct 18: Kalinga Club, Jarada organised a State level one day knockout football tournament today.Eight teams from different districts of Odisha took part in this one-day day mega event that was supported by JSPL Foundation. In the nerve-racking final match Friends Club Sambalpur won the match beating Redhakhol team by 02-00 goals.Rabindra Nath Deo, SDPO, Angul presented the trophy and prizes to the winning and runners-up team.On behalf of JSPL, Ashish Pandey and Sunit Purohit were also present as guest of honour during the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, D.K.Saraogi, Executive Director & Location Head said, “By organising such rural sports activities, JSPL attempts to promote rural sporting talents.Such state level tournaments give a lot of opportunities to players for learning new skills”.He congratulated the local villagers and Kalinga Club members for organizing this event and assured that JSPL will support such programmes in the locality in future.The tournament was inaugurated in the morning by Premananda Lenka (IIC of Jarpada Police Station), in presence of villagers and players.Lenka, who is an excellent cricket player, energised the players with his spirited words during his inaugural address.Participating teams were KCC of Jarada, Talamul, Friend’s Club Sambalpur, Maa Budhi Club of Angul, Turanga, Naranpur, Pataka and Redhakhol.The first semifinal of the tournament was played between Football Club of Sambalpur and Talmul teams in which Football Club of Sambalpur defeated Talmul by 02-00 goals. In second semifinal played, Redhakhol team defeated Narayanpur team by 03 goals.The one-day tournament was witnessed by a huge gathering of villagers from Jarpada and other local villages.
