energy-awardOdisha Channel Bureau Joda, Nov 1: Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine of Tata Steel situated at Joda in Keonjhar district has won the prestigious “Energy Efficient Unit” award at the 15th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2014 conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).The award was given for the mine’s outstanding contribution in the field of electrical energy, thermal energy, explosive energy, renewable energy and water conservation measures adopted in the last couple of years.Saroj K.Banerjee, Chief, Engineering Services & Project and M.R.Rath, Head, Plant & Equipment, Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine, Tata Steel received this prestigious award on behalf of the company at Energy Efficiency Summit 2014 on October 30 at Hyderabad from Pradeep Chandra, Special Chief Secretary & Commissioner of Industrial development & Commerce, Government of Telangana and Naushad Forbes, Vice President, CII.Out of the 205 applicants received from industry leaders from different segments like automobile, power, refinery, fertilizer, paper, pulp, FMCG, chemical, engineering, building, cement and software, etc.A total of 97 applicants were short listed and called for final presentation at Hyderabad which was evaluated by a panel of experts.Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine of Tata Steel bagged the coveted `Energy Efficient Unit’ award beating all other competitors.
