Vijayawada: The YSR Congress Party’s flagship programme – construction of houses free of cost will be launched on December 25.
The government has already acquired 66,518 acres with an estimated market value of Rs. 23,000 crore to benefit 30.68 lakh families under “Padalandiriki Illu” (houses for all poor) programme.
In the first phase, 15 lakh houses will be built and handed over to the beneficiaries by June, 2022. Thirteen lakh houses under phase-2 will be completed by June, 2023. Each house construction will cost Rs.1.80 lakh.
The government will distribute house-site pattas in litigation-free areas on December 25.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Spandana review meeting at Tadepalli near Vijayawada said the house-sites would be distributed with D forms in litigation-free areas. He told the Collectors to take steps to get stay orders vacated.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the entire land acquisition process and identification of plots by December 10 and be ready with geo-tagging of house-sites prior to the distribution on December 25.
The construction work will also start on the same day, where 15 lakh houses will be taken up in the first phase, with an expenditure of Rs.1.80 lakh for each house, without compromising on quality.
The programme originally scheduled to be held on March 25 was postponed to April 14, May 30, July 8, August 15 and subsequently to October 2 due to court litigation, postponing of local body elections and other reasons.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that the housing programme was being launched in a hurry without clearing legal disputes on acquisition of assigned lands with an eye on ensuring local body elections.
