Odisha Channel Bureau Sukinda, Sep 26: Sukinda Chromite Mine of Tata Steel has bagged the Asian Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership Award for Community Development.This was awarded by World CSR Congress at Dubai on September 24.Sumit Ghoshal, Regional Commercial Manager, Tata Steel, Middle East, while receiving the award on behalf of the company spoke about how the company’s founder’s vision for community development has been ingrained in the DNA of all the employees and is being practised companywide.Voluntarily, several officers of Sukinda Chromite Mine have been sponsoring orphan tribal girls of the nearby schools of Sukinda.Due to ‘improvement activities’ done by employees in the work place, when they receive prize money, even that they donate to the needy school kids for buying books and school uniform.For Tata Steel, welfare of the society is not just a principle but a living tradition and will remain so for all time to come, according to an official release issued by the company.
