Odisha Channel Bureau Dhenkanal, May 31: In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man strangulated his 30-year-old son to death before he ended his life in Dhenkanal town of Odisha last night.The incident has sent shock waves in the town.In order to clear the mystery behind the twin deaths in the family, father Shakti Prasad Acharya left a suicidal note making him responsible for the death of his son and himself.Dhenkanal town police seized the note and investigating into the matter.According to police, the deceased son’s name was Bidu Acharya(30), who had passed Plus Two.He was physically sound from childhood but after he passed plus two he became ill neurologically and developed mental retardation.His parents tried their best to cure him, but failed .He was very obstinate and wanted his desire always should be fulfilled.At dead of night, his father even went to market to fetch things to make him happy.Shakti had three sons.His two elder sons are employed in banks and the eldest one was married.He got voluntary retirement from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department where he was working as an accountant.Shakti had reportedly left his job to look after his ailing son who was bed ridden.According to FIR lodged by Shakti’s wife Nalini Acharya, last night the son asked her not to sleep in his room rather asked his father to sleep by his side.She went to another room for sleep and in night when she came to see the father and son she found her son was dead.He had injury on his throat and a nylon rope was there.Desperately she searched his husband in the house and to her surprise found him hanging in the storeroom.Shakti was a very good man and had no enmity with anybody.He was always seen remorseful and over working for his bed-ridden son, according to neighbours.“He was exhausted too much for his son who remained ailing for a long time and always he had to do all his works and felt tired.He might have committed this act due to over frustration” said one his relatives.“We rushed to the spot as soon as we were informed about the incident this morning.We also seized the suicide note and learnt the reason behind the deaths.We sent the bodies for post mortem and still conducting further investigations in the incident,” said Pradip Pradhan, the IIC of Dhenkanal town police station.
