Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has instituted State-level awards to be given away every year to two eminent scholars for their contributions in the field of Sanskrit.The annual NALCO Kalidas Awards, shall carry a purse of Rs.50,000 each and a citation, to be handed over at NALCO Foundation Day celebration on January 7.
This was announced by Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD of NALCO at a national seminar on ‘India is the symbol of tolerance’, organized by Nirmalya, a socio-cultural association, at Puri on Friday.NALCO has also instituted NALCO Smiles Award for the NGOs and institutions working for the rehabilitation and resettlement of differently abled children/persons.The award carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh.Similarly, to recognize, appreciate and encourage individuals for their significant contributions to Odissi dance, the company has instituted NALCO Kharavela Awards to felicitate an Odissi Guru and an Odissi dancer every year. The award for Odissi Guru carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, while for Odissi dancer the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs.50,000.The company shall hand over the awards to the winners in the upcoming NALCO’s Foundation Day function on January 7 at Bhubaneswar.The aluminium major is presently seeking nominations for these awards, for which the last date of submission is December 28.The other details regarding the awards are available in the company’s website www.nalcoindia.com.
