Love birds end life on rail track

Rajashree DashJajpur, Dec 20: In a tragic incident, a young couple in love committed suicide by jumping before a running train in Jajpur district of Odisha on Saturday.The couple jumped before a running goods train at Osala near Baitarani Road railway station under Bhadrak General Railway Police (GRP) station jurisdiction in the district.Local people saw the young couple wandering near the railway tracks at Osala village at about 11 am.“As soon as a goods train came, the duo suddenly jumped before it and the train ran over them.I found their bust and bodies on the tracks after the train’s departure.I raised an alarm by which the local people rushed to the spot and informed to the railway police,” said Bikash Jena, a local.The incident took place just two km away from the Baitarani Road railway station towards Bhadrak, police said.“On being infirmed, we rushed to the spot and seized the bodies from the railway tracks. The couple was between 20 and 24 of age.A letter was also recovered from the pocket of the deceased boy in which it is stated that the boy is asking the girl to come to the spot for suicide,” said Saroj Kanta Das, officer-in-charge of Bhadrak GRP station.Police are yet to identify the bodies as they did not belong to the locality.“Thousands of people who thronged at the accident site since the incident could not recognize the bodies as they are believed to be the outsiders,” said GRP police adding efforts were on to identify the bodies.Police have seized the bodies and sent them to the hospital for post mortem.The post mortem on the bodies will be conducted on Sunday.
