Odisha Channel Bureau Nayagarh, July 30: Crime Branch of Odisha police took Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda into their custody for nine days on Wednesday to grill him in connection with the sensational Nayagarh arms loot case.The Crime Branch took the Maoist leader into their custody after the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate remanded him to police custody for nine days.Panda was produced before the SDJM after he was brought from Berhampur where he was in judicial custody at the end of his 10-day police remand there.He was arrested in Berhampur on July 18.Tight security arrangements were made when Panda was produced in the court.The police were almost sure about Panda’s involvement in the Nayagarh arms loot case as the revolver that was recovered from his possession had been looted when the Maoists looted arms in Nayagarh.Director General Police Sanjeev Marik has confirmed that the resolver that was recovered from Panda’s possession had been looted from Nayagarh.About 600 Maoists had simultaneously raided the arms depots at the police training school, district armoury and local police station in Nayagarh town on the night of February 15, 2008 and looted large quantities of arms and ammunition.The Maoist had killed as many as 15 persons, including 13 policemen.
