Rajashree DashJajpur, July 1: A self-styled god man was arrested on charges of allegedly outraging modesty of a minor girl at Bhalinuagaon village in Jajpur district of Odisha, police said on Tuesday.The accused has been identified as Rama Chandra Sahu (30) of Simulia Maidipur village of the district.Police arrested the self-styled god man after the victim lodged a complaint against him with Bari police station on Monday.According to the FIR filed with the police, Sahu, a self proclaimed god man used to come to Bhalinuagaon village and stay in the house of Babuli Paramanik.During his stay, both Paramanik and his wife became god man’s disciples and worshiped him for his blessing.The children of the Paramanik family were also following the path of their parents and paying obeisance to the self-styled god man to get his blessing.“The self-styled god man had visited the house of Paramanik on Monday. He called Paramanik’s 17-year-old daughter to him.When the minor girl went to him, the god man touched her body with bad intentions,” the victim said in her FIR.The victim told about it to her parents following which an FIR was lodged against him with the local police.When the news of outrage of modesty to the minor girl spread, local villagers congregated and caught hold of the god man.“The self-styled god man was arrested on Monday under Section 354 (assault to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Sitikanta Kanungo, Inspector-in-Charge of Bari police station.Police said the accused was forwarded the local court on Tuesday and later remanded to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected.
