Rajashree DashJajpur, Nov 9: Jakhapura police on Sunday arrested a youth and forwarded him to the court on the charges of raping a minor girl in Telibahali village under Kalinga Nagar Industrial complex area of this Odisha district.The accused has been identified as Rabindra alias Banthua Sahu(27) of Kogaon village under Korei police station limits in the district.Police also arrested another youth, identified as Suryakanta alias Papu Sahu(24) hailing from Telibahali village for assisting the accused in the crime.According to FIR filed with the local police by the mother of the victim, Banthua took her 15-year-old daughter who studies in class X at village high school on a motorbike along with one of his aides while she was out of home for answering nature’s call on Friday night.Banthua took the minor girl to a secluded location away from the village and raped there.Later, he dumped her near her house late on Friday night, the FIR stated.The minor girl narrated the entire incident to her mother following which a written complaint was lodged at the Jakhapura police station on Saturday.After getting the complaint, police swung into action and arrested the accused from his residence wee hours on Sunday.Later his aide Papu was rounded up from the victim’s village.“We arrested the accused under sections 376 and also sections 2 (f) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 last night.We also arrested Papu who had assisted the accused in the crime,” said Umakanta Nayak, inspector-in-charge of Jakhapura police station.Police conducted medical examination of both the victim and the accused at government hospital at Danagadi.The accused and his aide were forwarded to the local court.Later, they were remanded them to jail custody after their bail pleas were rejected.
