Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: The proceedings of the winter session of Odisha Assembly got off to a story start here on Thursday with opposition raising slogans over alleged involvement of ruling Biju Janata Dal leaders in the mega chit fund scam in the State.As soon as the question hour began after obituary reference for former MLAs who died recently, Congress legislators stormed into the well alleging involvement of the leaders of the ruling BJD leaders in the ponzi scam.The legislators belonging to both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party were on their feet holding placards and banners that slammed the Naveen Patnaik Government for facilitating the loot hard-earned money of the poor.Some of the placards read that CBI investigation into the scam had unmasked the BJD.A placard described Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as `No 1 Chit Minister of India’.Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra told journalists outside that he had written a letter to the Speaker seeking permission to raise the chit fund scam issue by suspending the question hour.Mishra’s request, however, went unheeded and the Speaker went ahead with the question hour.As pandemonium prevailed, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12.15 pm.The situation, however, did not change when the House reassembled at 12.15 pm.As the opposition members resumed their slogan shouting, the Speaker adjourned the House for the second time till 3 pm.
