Odisha Channel Bureau New Delhi, Mar 23: The National Human Rights Commission, in order to promote and acknowledge cinematic and creative efforts in the field of human rights, has instituted an award scheme for short films and spots.The award will carry a citation along with prize money of Rs.1 lakh, Rs.75,000 and Rs.50,000 for the first, second and third film respectively.The films advocating promotion and protection of human rights may be in any Indian language with sub-titles in English or in Hindi for films in English.Duration of the short film/spot should not be more than 10 minutes.The films may be in any technical format.The themes of short films could be broadly-based on various socio-economic, cultural and political rights within the ambit of right to life, liberty, equality and dignity and covering issues specific, among others, to bonded and child labour, women & children’s rights, rights of elderly persons, disabled rights, right to healthcare, issues of fundamental freedoms, human trafficking etc.There is no bar on number of films sent by an individual for participation in the contest.The entries received after September 30, 2015 will not be entertained.More detail information can be accessed from the website of the Commission, www.nhrc.nic.in
