Jilted lover held for girl’s killing

Odisha Channel Bureau Jagatsinghpur, Dec 25: Police have arrested a 25-year-old jilted lover who had strangulated a 16-year-old college girl to death in Khandasahi village under Tirtol police station jurisdiction of Jagatsinghpur district.The accused Prabir Roy had made romantic advances towards the victim girl.The infatuated jilted lover turned vindictive after being rejected by the girl.He had later strangulated her death on 22 December in the village orchard.The body was later hung on a tree to give it a look of suicide case.The assailant booked under IPC Section 302 (murder), 341 (wrongful restraint), 364 (kidnapping or abduction) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was later remanded to judicial custody, said Sub Divisional Police Officer, Bhabani Shankar Mishra.The accused had confessed to have committed the crime after the girl had shunned his romantic advances, he added.
