Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested Biju Janata Dal Member of Parliament from Mayurbhanj Ramachandra Hansdah for his alleged involvement in the mega chit fund scam in Odisha.Two former legislators – Subarna Nayak of the BJD and Hitesh Bagarti of the BJP – were also arrested by the CBI in the scam.Hansdah is the second BJD leader to be arrested in the scam.Banki legislator Pravat Tripathy was arrested earlier.Hansdah, Nayak and Bagarti were arrested after they were questioned by the CBI sleuths at the office of the investigating agency here for their alleged links with the Nabadiganta Capital Financial Services (NCFS) that has duped thousands of depositors in the State.The three leaders, who were Directors of NCFS , were also questioned by the CBI at least on two occasions in the recent past.The CBI had also conducted raids at Hansdah’s house and seized many documents as well as cash of Rs.28 lakhs.Meanwhile, the BJD suspended Hansdah and former legislator Nayak from the party following their arrest by the CBI for their alleged involvement in the scam.The BJD had suspended Tripathy from the party after soon after his arrest.
