Anubhav elected as Rajya Sabha Member

Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar: Odia film actor Anubhav Mohanty, who had joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal a few months before the recently held elections, was elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed as a BJD member on Thursday.The result was declared by the Odisha State Assembly’s Secretary and Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha bypoll, Amiya Kumar Sarangi.Anubhav was the only candidate whose nomination papers had been found valid for the lone Rajya Sabha seat for which election was scheduled to be held on June 19.Two other nomination papers filed by others had been rejected earlier.Anubhav was declared elected unopposed after the end of time for withdrawal of nomination papers.The actor-turned-politician had filed nomination papers on Monday.Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik and other BJD leaders accompanied him when he filed his nomination papers.
