Odisha Channel Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 28: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced that the State Government will bear the medical expenditure of Kanak Dei Bhatra, the Nabarangpur girl who set herself on fire after her parents said they could not pay her school fee.The girl is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical in Cuttack.A student of Class-X of Ghatguda High School in Papadahandi Block had reportedly attempted suicide after her poor parents expressed their inability to give around Rs.200 to her to pay school fee.The girl had locked herself in the kitchen, poured kerosene and set herself on fire.The incident occurred on Thursday and she was referred to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur on Friday.However, since she had suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and her condition was serious, she was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack on Saturday.
