Odisha Channel Bureau Kendrapara, Dec 7: An anti-social chopped off the hand of a 34-year-old man today afternoon hours in a village under Derabish police station jurisdiction of Kendrapara district, triggering tension in the locality and adjoining areas.The accused Trilochan Mallah brandishing a sharp-edged weapon launched a murderous attack on Manoranjan Rout, a grocer shop owner of the village.The assailant had tried to kill him.However the weapon missed the target.Rout’s right hand was chopped off from the elbow joint portion.The victim has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition, police said.Inspector Derabish police station, Niranjan Sabar said “the incident occurred at about 4 pm in the afternoon.The accused has a history of crime”.Police forces have been deployed in Shankarpur village under Kurujanga gram panchayat as people are agitated over the incident.Exact motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained.Manhunt is on to nab the culprit, he added.
